The Dark

The Dark, we can never take it
Because it usually takes us
To places and things we can’t see
or understand

But when it lets us go
We finally catch a breath
As our eyes adjust to the light
We see ourselves as different
And the world around us

Smiles are brighter
Our strides are stronger

Two kinds of choices are given to us
To fight The Dark back in bitter contempt
Cursing the new days given to us
Or to humbly move on
and wait for the winds of change
To offer a hand
help us stand again
and we will bring forth beauty
From places no one else could

The Dark comes and goes
Passes over the greatest of us
As well as the worst of us
But the light will never be seen
Without it.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when ever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perserverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything" James 1:2-4
